We opened our Maker Space to the community so you can work on your favorite project. You are also welcome to just come and take a tour of our Maker Space. Make a Cutting Board - 6:30-8:30 pm. This is open to 14-year-old and older or
children if accompanied with an adult. Each student will make a 11" x 14" hardwood cutting board. They will learn hod to select wood, operate a table saw, how to glue wood together, use a router and finish a cutting board. Class size is limited to 8. total cost for materials & class is $45. You don’t need any experience to take this class. You will learn about the parts of a wood lathe, how to operate and how to use the tools. You will complete three projects to take home, spindle, wooden pen, a segmented wood bowl. This class will have three sessions. What is 3D printing? How does it work? These questions and more will be answered in this introductory class. You will work on a basic 3D printer(supplied) learning how to set up, print and do basic troubleshooting of problems. You will be able to take a complete 3D printer kit home to use for a month. You will learn how to design and make custom laser cut wood and acrylic projects. We will teach some basic features of Lightburn software to design your projects. You will be shown how to download art from the internet to assist in your projects. Then you will learn how to operate a laser to cut or engrave your creations. All materials and software will be provided for this two-evening class. All you need is a Windows or Mac based laptop computer with a mouse and with WIFI capabilities, download the trial version of Lightburn. Go to the Lightburn software website to download the product for your laptop. We will install Lightburn in the first class. Being proficient in the use of your computer is highly recommended. Have you heard of CAD, this class will teach you the basics of 3D CAD. Learn how to use AutoDesk Fusion 360 to create 3D objects that can be turned into physical parts. This class will get you started on your 3D CAD journey. This is a great class for young woodworkers and an adult helper to make several simple wood projects over a two-day class. Students can choose to make a license plate birdhouse, pop can birdhouse, Planter or bird feeder. They can make as many of these as they have time.
